GUIDELINES:
A University Award for Excellence in Classified Service has been establishede to give recognition for superior performance and extraordinary achievement by employees in classified service at Binghamton University.
Persons who win the University Award for Excellence in Classified Service will receive a personal certificate of recognition, an honorarium, and be honored at the Excellence Awards Dinner. A feature story honoring the recipient, with photograph, will be published in the campus paper, INSIDE.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be nominated for the University Award for Excellence in Classified Service, the individual must have completed at least one year of continuous full-time classified service in the position for which nominated. Permanent part-time employees are also eligible. Their continuous service will be pro-rated (i.e., 2 years minimum service for 1/2 time personnel, 3 years minimum service for 1/3 time personnel, etc.).
SELECTION PROCESS:
A Selection Committee for the University Award for Excellence in Classified Service shall be appointed by the Vice President for Administration with the concurrence of the President. The Selection Committee shall be structured to include a minimum of 50% classified service personnel (who are employed in capacities that are eligible for the award), with the rest of the committee membership comprised of faculty, professional staff, and students. The Vice President for Administration shall designate one of the faculty or professional staff as chairperson and one of the previous award recipients as vice-chairperson.
The Selection Committee will be charged with receiving nominations, soliciting the appropriate documentation (primarily from the nominator) and reviewing all qualified candidate dossiers. The Committee will submit their recommendation(s) through the Vice President for Administration for Presidential endorsement.
