Binghamton
University utilizes a campus-wide blue light and 911 emergency telephone
system. Employees, students and visitors may use any
blue light telephone, or dial 911 on any campus telephone, to report
any kind of emergency, i.e., fire, sudden illness, accident, etc. This number, along with other pertinent emergency
numbers, appears on page one of the University telephone directory.
When
using pay telephones, or other non-campus telephones, employees, students
and visitors may report campus emergencies by dialing 777-2393.
Blue
light telephones and 911 should ONLY be used only to report emergencies.
University
Police officers respond to all campus emergencies. Environmental Health
and Safety has trained medical personnel available to assist with medical
emergencies. They are summoned by University Police as needed. University
Police will dispatch an ambulance from Harpur's Ferry Student Volunteer
Ambulance Service whenever an ambulance is needed.
If Harpur's Ferry is not available, Broome County Emergency Services
will dispatch the nearest available ambulance. If an ambulance is responding
from off campus, and EH&S is in service, EH&S should also be
notified via radio so medically trained personnel may also respond.
The University Health Service has medical personnel on duty to assist students with medical emergencies from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. During student vacations, the University Health Service hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are closed on weekends.
